Narendra Mandalapa has been charged with fraud and misuse of visas and is currently in the custody of the United States Marshals Service. The US Immigration and Customs Enforcement says investigations have revealed that Mandalapa had filed nearly 1,000 possibly fraudulent labour-based petitions. All of these were on behalf of skilled computer professionals from the Indian sub-continent seeking to enter or remain in the US.
Investigators estimate that professionals paid at least Rs 90 crore as application fees for these petitions. They are now trying to determine how many such people entered the US and received fraudulent labour benefits.

I made a few calls to India (land line) yesterday and saw the int'l charges for those calls. I'll be calling vonage customer service and talk to them. Did anybody else look at their call activity in vonage account????

Flying through Asian Countires is not an option for people residing in East Coast. I am travelling to India in the next week Via Amsterdam. I am told by the consulate that we do not need Transit Visas. My H1B Visa is expired and I am travelling on AP. Did any one hear differently?

Same here, i got a similar response too... If they are true to their words abt under review, we shud b fine...
But the problem is, they mite b stating this under review for all cases to avoid repeated requests and hence the issue..
Is ur case also at NSC?
How has ur luck been with the POJ method? Have u always recvd the same informn from all IOs?
I always get a different response wen i talk to an IO at NSC...
I got to know that my case is pre-adjudicated and with IO since Sept 20, 2009. But this information is not helpful at all as people have got GC's as early as Sept 01.
Now, whenever I call-I get same msg- that my case is with IO and nothing can be done be done to expedite it.
I have changed my employer only once since filing for 485 and been only with Fortune 500 companies as permanent employees,don't know what is holding up the case- all my coworkers got it by Sept 15th.
My case is at NSC.

On the flip side, if this is only a rumor, then USCIS/DOS won't comment at all.

H1 quota will be over on day 1 also started as a rumor ..however USICS quickly jumped and clarified how they will handle the situation ..i hope the same this time also .
Only intresting thing is will they accept applications on day 1 and cover their skin ?...Then no body can question DOS/USICS as they always had a reason to defend themself....Guys what ever happens if you can file today thats fine else ..do use fedex same day service and make sure the application will reach b4 5 on monday

But, woudn't the 75% of 140K quota for next two years be consumed by ROW applicants who are about to apply. Becoz they are current wouldn't the VISA number go to them..
All the above calculations I guess are assuming that the entire 140K will be given the pending 485 application..May be I am missing something.
Even if we add the flow of application from 'Current' categoreis, your statement still holds true.

Hi all,
I am planning for a trip to india and get my first visa stamping done some time in may. My visa was approved in july 2007. Does anyone think that this issue will prolong till may? Or will all these database updates for the PIMS verification checks be complete by then? Any inputs will be highly appreciated. Thanks.

They might want to disperse the 12k numbers in the subsequent months, if they try to be a little conservative.
This is a very simple calculation. Following are the numbers before Oct -2006. These total to ~ 12K.
EB2-C - 3521
EB2-I - 9345
The dates will move further if more than 12K numbers are infused into the system. I would say that the dates should be in Oct - Nov 2006 range with these 12K numbers, having Nov as buffer as they may issue RFE's to folks.

We can raise the issue is that the govt does not want to address our plight as
1. We are not entitled to any benefits till we get our GC such as Social security, benefits etc though we pay taxes which inturn are used by US citizens
2. We contribute to the economy by buying goods etc so there is a dual intent to keep the foreigners here but not to give them GC/citizen ship asap

We wasted lot of time, money and effort with this 485 filing for the last 15 days. I am terribly disappointed with the outcome now.
We need to file a lawsuit against USCIS and Dept of State for the loss that has happened to us.
