I appeared for an interview on Feb 11 (H1b renewal and H4b renewal case).
Was asked to wait a week for an email and was given the yellow form.
Its been 16 days and no reply yet.
Does anyone know how long the wait will be?
How can I follow this up with the Mumbai consulate?
Is there a way I can cancel my application and go back on AP?

we got approval on our I-485 (PD Jan,2006).

When you buy a home you sign a contract saying you will pay the loan amount at the end of the loan term with interest. There was a commitment made. And you are saying people who walk away without fulfilling their obligation are smart? Fool!
And who do you think is footing the bill for bailing out those banks? its you and me! You are not only dishonest and unethical, you must be really dumb if you think you are not going to be paying for the mistakes of people like punjabi when they "walk away" from their homes. Idiot!
This reminds me of the following exchange from Seinfeld :

Not sure if it will affect your job prospects in the future but what I AM sure of is everything else will be affected, even everyday things like getting car insurance. If you want to switch to a different insurer, your premium will increase if you have bad credit history. As someone else said, you need to really think this through because it will be a life-changing decision for you. People who are telling you to go ahead and do it just because it is legal are not giving you good advice. And people who are advising you to go ahead and do it and get a couple more credit cards and a new car while you are at it, well, these people really have no business giving anyone any advice about anything.

I am all for it, and would support it in whatever way possible. Although not sure how it would work. It would require a gigantic change in the US laws.
I am here for past 11 years paying all possible taxes. Fortunately i was able to file 485 in 07, thru my second gc filing. Bought a house in '06 in a bold move, with the hope that gc would come thru sooner or later. Overall happy with the move to my own house (though the house value has dropped considerably since). Waiting is really painful, but I'll continue to maintain a positive outlook till then.
Can any one take a lead on this and volunteer?. As I am not an expert in it, I am asking any of the members of IV to take initiative. We will support in what ever way..

last i checked - there are plenty of flights between JFK/Newark and all major cities including Boston.
also - all airlines work on a hub and spoke arrangement

One thing to realise is that direct point to point flights will take a while, and even then there is no guarantee that you will want to fly it because it may not be economical or convienient.
And the absence of point-to-point flights has more to do with the airlines following a hub and spoke model than with any government restrictions. Point to point flights were identified as a core part of Boeing's product strategy only recently. The situation should improve over the next few years as airlines take delivery of new models, but until then we are stuck with the hub and spoke arrangement.

We should send emails to Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, Jay Leno, David Letterman, Conan O'Brian, Jimmy Kimmel etc.
They have tremendous amount of viewership and seems like a perfect material for these shows. I will send email to these guys but if more and more peple can make them aware of this development, this news can potentially snowball. :D

But, woudn't the 75% of 140K quota for next two years be consumed by ROW applicants who are about to apply. Becoz they are current wouldn't the VISA number go to them..
All the above calculations I guess are assuming that the entire 140K will be given the pending 485 application..May be I am missing something.
It is economy. DOL vitually halted PERM approvals. Companies are not sponsering GCs as they used. If you give an Ad today, you will get 10 times resumes. So there is no easy way to get an approval.

They have not specified anything like my prior company is fake in any of the communication email.They are asking me come back because they find something wrong about my prior company after four year and i am not able to provide more evidence.During four year i worked in 10 to 15 project for diff client and for each project first they did BG and put me in project.Now they are asking me that provide some more evidence or come back to offshore.
I know if i come back to india they will give me layoff from company.In this situation how do i fight with my company.
Please any of guide me if any of member come across in this situation

My 140 and 485s (with my wife as derivative )are from Nebraska and have a set of A#s,
again My wife's 140 and 485s (with me as derivative ) are from Texas and have a different set of A#s..
how to combine them and make uscis inform abt it???

just wanted to see if anyone who is in a similar situation as me but is current got their GC recently, in july or aug 2010.
I got married in june 2007, just prior to the july fiasco. I was able to file for AoS in july 2007,
and soon after got an RFE for evidence of marriage for my wife. We responded to the RFE immediately, and since then, my case status says "initial review" while hers says "we received your response to the RFE", dated sep 2008.
I will be current next month - just wondering whether the RFE processing might end up taking a lot of time and thus spill over into next FYs visa bulletins (which have a small chance of retrogressing back by a few months presumably).
Has anyone who received their GC in the past few weeks been in a similar situation with status shown as "received response to your RFE" but no updates since....and still gotten their GC soon after their dates became current?
any data points will be helpful.

Its not that I think I am smarter or have any additional insight...but I take things at face value. Of course the total number of pending cases in the chart and in the PDF should match - they both are exactly what they say they are "PENDING EMPLOYMENT BASED I-485 cases" If that's what the report title says, that's exactly what it means. No point in over-analyzing if this is just for pre-adjudicated or only primary applications etc....
I say stupid questions because people still ask "Does the PDF report contain numbers for dependents or only for primary applicants" - so you are telling me that this is not clear from the PDF report??
I and many others do not see the definition of "Pending" what is in our minds matching the definition of "Pending" by USCIS. We believe that it is not yet concluded. Even USCIS itself is not clear. In trend chart under "All other pending" its total figure for national level is 279031 till July 2009. Where as in the Excel worksheet it is 233816 till July 2009( Worksheet is produced for the time period till the December 2009 but for July to Dec 2009 all visa categories have zero value thus data is till July 2009)
So I would request you to keep patience till we get "authentic" feedback from somebody. Many people are working on this in background. If you want to see the signs they are there in many other threads including recently declared FOIA and USCIS data comparison thread published by Pappu.
We can't be just "innocently simple minded" when USCIS itself publishes different data sets at different links and start believing the only data of a particular worksheet is correct just because USCIS declared it. If you try to compare both of these trend chart and excel worksheet with the April operating performance report declared by USCIS (needhelp! has posted it on this thread) then you get into more confusion and start seeing clear discrepency.
So choice is yours , patiently watching the input of others on this thread and start contributing in analysis OR keep on doing what you are doing unnecessarily.

I just contacted my senator's local office .working on the letters now .Thanks IV for coming up with this wonderful initiative..I hope our community gathers around and works together to make this a success , please put bickering and cynicism to rest for sometime and work pro actively on this new IV action item..

This is a real problem. I got a letter from a prospective employer, who wanted proof that I was legally eligible to work in the US (alongwith transcripts, previous employment letters etc.) prior to scheduling an interview.:cool:
I believe employers are seeing a lot of candidates on EAD, and for whatever reasons they dont think EAD is good enough and would like to weed those candidates out beforehand.
We need to fight back against this discrimination.:mad:
