I just contacted my senator's local office .working on the letters now .Thanks IV for coming up with this wonderful initiative..I hope our community gathers around and works together to make this a success , please put bickering and cynicism to rest for sometime and work pro actively on this new IV action item..

I think this is much easier for hundreds of people to participate as its easy, doesent take up too much time etc. and brings about our points across as compared to DC rally (please dont get me wrong here it was great but difficult for lot of people to attend because of various reasons). So I think we should spread out word about this as much as possible. Again, please dont get me wrong. Thank you.

Next full committee meeting is on Sep 16. There is no changes to the members on the committee.

I don't disagree with any of the statements.. It is totally personal decision for someone to donate or not.
I agree that there is no silver bullet in any analysis. It is a number crunching game.. What is important is follow-up after analysis, which is only possible with IV.
Dems want votes and more Hispanics
GOP want more temps since it is very good for business
Lawyers want more money so they are not interested in solutions. They are in it for money
Individuals want their greencard just in time and not worry about the guy right behind them..
tracker websites need traffic to get money from adds, so they don't want solution..

So you mean that EB2 petitioners are not required to file affidavit of support (either I 134 or I 864) at all for their spouse who are on H4 visa....
Any employment based petitions . You can send that as a supporting document but not mandatory .It wont comes under " initial evidence"

Most makes sense but I don't think any candidates wait for their companies to file for EB1. EB1s can be filed by the candidates themselves. Right? All in all, if this happens, it will be good news for atleast a couple of 1000 EB2-I. :D
EB1A/EB1B does not need but EB1C needs employer and was exploited by the Indian companies to the max. possible extend for the so called global managers

One thing i would like to emphasize like others, is background check when you apply for any company in future. Most good companies do a thorough check which includes your credit history. When i joined the company i currently work , I asked for a copy of the report for my reference and it did include that i have a good credit history. Not sure how much companies pay attention to this but yes if they do it could affect your employment chances at some of the top companies.
On the positive side, I strongly believe that the economy will come back on track. Who knows 5-10 years from now your decision may look good. As others advised you should also consider renting out your place... With the population ever increasing, and the land being constant, I always think investment in land will always be a good investment on the long run. At least you have something concrete to show for your money :).
Rest the feeling that you are doing the right thing even though its the hard way is always priceless :)
Anyways i agree its easier to say these things sitting on the other side of the fence.
Hope things work out the best for you.

Yes, it is that simple. If you just walk away from your home, bank can only touch your home and credit history. They can not go after your automobile\gold\savings\other property....anything. You are not missing anything. That is why we are seeing so many people around us just walking away from their homes. Thank God I rent but if my property's value go down 200 k in 2 years, heck I would walk away with a smile on my face. No strings attached.
Walking away would have been difficuly had you put 20% down, i.e. involving your hard earned money in the deal. In that case you would have waited to see the market and hoped that it would revive. If put 0% down and bank has given you 100% loan, then it is the bank who has taken all the risk. You have practially no risk in that deal. Just like cloth....return it to the bank. Hey....you don't have to even clean it up...like you do in the case of apartment move. ;-)

Everyone knows that increasing green card numbers will be best solution. In that also if we ask too much we may not get anything. Double the number of annual Gc plus exclude dependents will be enough for reducing retrogession but that may not eliminate. But waiting period of 2 to 3 years can be reasonable for most people. I am sure one more chance will come for increasing H1b numbers. That time we can try for GC increase also.
